The Witch of the Farthest End
[Comments from the judges]
While focusing on the mainstream genre of music games, we are impressed by your fantasy-themed creation that managed to differentiate itself. Your ability to keep the music engaging from start to finish with changing developments, intricate rhythm approaches, and well-placed climaxes is highly appreciated. Your composition gives a strong sense of immersion into a magical world, along with a palpable sense of tension. It feels like a beautifully packaged storybook, and for these reasons, we have chosen to recognize and include your work. Congratulations on being selected!

I felt like this is a truly unconventional miracle that's cute in a fairytale way but also kind of out-of-this-world! The composition and gimmicks are clear, and it immediately gives the impression that it could be the perfect fit for a music video. It's an enjoyable piece.
What's particularly interesting is how the overall backing harmonies and the rhythm of the drums have this rigid, almost hard-edged quality. However, in the B section, it contrasts beautifully with an expansive, hop-step-jump kind of structure that gives the music a fantastic dynamic range. It really shines as a rhythm game piece.
The progression, often seen in what's trending as 'Just the Two of Us,' is at the core, but instead of just repeating, it takes an original turn midway through, keeping the listener's attention firmly locked in. The sudden twist right before the outro with 'Where are you going?' is like entering the stratosphere, and it's absolutely amazing!

Congratulations on being selected! I believe the enchanting space created by the digital tones in your music is incredibly soothing and makes for a song that can be enjoyed continuously. Furthermore, the presence of rhythm gimmicks and rhythmic intricacies that are favorable for a music game adds to its appeal. Combining the excellent sense of Taiko drumming with this song, I thought it could create a unique performance experience that maximizes the immersion of this music!

During the judging process, we often listen to a single song multiple times, but with this particular piece, I found myself unintentionally getting lost in it and looping it endlessly. (Thanks to that, judging became quite a challenge, haha.) I believe this addictive quality is one of the charms of this music. Why is it so irresistibly addictive? I think it's because the originality of this piece is exceptionally high. There's a unique quality to this music that provides a kind of nourishment you can't get anywhere else. Naturally, it also excels in all the elements we look for in a music game! Congratulations on being selected!

Congratulations on being selected! This song is pure chaos in the best way possible! Amidst the various elements thrown together, there are sharp rhythms, familiar recurring chords, and subdued vocals. They all exist in a state of chaos where it's hard to tell if they harmonize or not, yet there's a sense of pop in it! The way you've introduced variations in tempo and a wide range of rhythm patterns, along with short breaks that don't give players a moment to relax, is impressive!

My initial impression was that this song serves as a shining example of "music game meets vocals." It is a deliberate effort to create a structure that ensures both the vocal aspect and the sense of gameplay, and I highly appreciate that! The way you've meticulously thought out the composition, allowing for moments of intensity followed by moments of restraint, changing up rhythm patterns between the first and second verses, and other such structural elements that are almost like a set of conventions—all of this is handled brilliantly with the aim of making it enjoyable to play. Congratulations on being selected!

"Absolutely intense and cool!
Right from the start, the simple organ-like tones set a strong and cool tone. Then, in the latter half, it shifts to square wave tones, giving it a chip-tune vibe. Even here, it maintains its coolness by focusing on the pulsating bass and short sequences of notes rather than becoming overly flashy (this part is incredibly cool). ...Up to this point, it might sound like techno music from the description, but it's generously sprinkled with jazz elements, creating a unique and far from tranquil musical experience.
While there are plenty of songs in irregular time signatures, not many take the approach of repeating riffs with melody being almost excluded, making it seem like a fresh experience even as a game performance. It evokes the feeling of folk dances in irregular time signatures. So... those of you who have been listening and practicing, how about dancing along?"

Congratulations on being selected! Isn't this the kind of track that gets you into high spirits, enjoying the high-speed swing rhythm? The vocals match the song exceptionally well, and the way the lyrics ride along with the melody is fantastic. Every word leaves a pleasant impression. When you're in the mood for a bright and fast BPM song that you want to play, I think this is the kind of track you'll remember and have a blast playing!

Congratulations on being selected! Thank you for submitting such a cool fusion track that's easy for the general public to enjoy. It seems like you've composed a song that will be well-received by many. With prominent key moments and phrases, we will be able to create fumen (note chart for game) that can be comfortably played from EASY to EXTREME. The use of irregular time signatures might challenge the players, but the switch to 4/4 time in the chorus is a clever structure that resolves the difficulty of the irregular time signatures!

The absence of a distinct melody and the use of motif phrases with changing tones while continually rolling them along is a somewhat minimalistic musical approach. However, it's impressive that this composition keeps the listener engaged without becoming monotonous. It feels like it could serve as background music (BGM) for a game, maintaining a game music-like quality.

This is incredibly fun! Despite its rapid developments, the motif phrases serve as a consistent core, which makes it feel like a natural flow rather than a medley with abrupt transitions. It's excellent in that regard.

I saw a convergence of various elements, such as "mystery", "carefree", "comical", "wabi-sabi" and "fear", all gathered together in what seems like the chaos of the universe (the increase of entropy). It's truly one-of-a-kind.

I was soothed by the mellow techno-pop vibes. As someone who grew up in the 70s 80s, I feel a sense of nostalgia, but the modern sample-chop approach also adds a touch of wonder to it. It's like watching a video of a drive under the setting sun.

The nostalgia-inducing melody is great, of course, and the relaxed and flavorful vocals complement it perfectly. It feels like the story of a child magician (or one who imagines themselves as such) singing about pure love, and it's heartwarming.

It conveys a slightly mature take on summer romance. In my mind, it comes with its own music video – a heartfelt one. This is bittersweet... The fusion of a full-fledged band sound with the addition of sequences adds a special touch, making it stand out.

It's incredibly dynamic! The irregular time signatures in the first half, moving at such a high speed that you can't wait for the next bar, give it a sense of urgency, and that's also part of the song's charm. The song is rich in its developments, and it leaves you feeling fully satisfied.

It may fall into the genre known as Music Game Hardcore Techno but the elegance of the piano and the occasional classical music-inspired elements in the composition are unique to you, Yomii-san. It's impressive how you've transformed these elements into a truly distinctive piece of music.

Despite being an instrumental track, I feel like I can hear vocals...?! This song is incredibly expressive and immersive! For instance, can't you hear the howling of a werewolf at the moon, or the eerie laughter of a dracula? Exactly, when there are such lines or vocals, it truly elevates the experience. I couldn't help but think that with such a high level of expressiveness, if it had been further fine-tuned to maximize its impact on the listener, it would have been even more exceptional. I'm looking forward to what you'll create next time!

While feeling a bit of melancholy, this song also evokes a bright and positive feeling, making me want to listen to it forever. The melody that leaves a slightly blurry impression, combined with sparkling tones and a catchy rhythm, contributes to the pleasant sensation of chasing dreams. The concept is really great.
However, in terms of development, it feels like it lacks some dynamic shifts. As mentioned earlier, it's enjoyable to listen to as is, but when considering playing it as a game, I felt like it could use a bit more variation. I would love to see you take on this challenge again!

While it's a bright song, it has a perfect sense of tempo and development that makes it enjoyable and easy to groove to. I highly appreciate the skillful balance. It progresses with subtle changes throughout, but from a performance perspective, it could benefit from stronger variations. The playing experience is quite similar throughout the song, which is a bit of a missed opportunity. With your production skills and your knack for adding highlights, as well as your adept balance of brightness and tension, there are many good aspects to your work. I hope you'll take on the challenge again next time!

The intro that immediately pulls you in, the melody and sound choices that capture a sense of melancholic emotion while not letting go of the listener, and the rhythm section that carries a sense of high-speed rush, all blend together skillfully to create a unique world within the song. Personally, I really love it. It feels like, as soon as you think you've heard it, it smoothly disappears like a refreshing ice cream, leaving you wanting more. That's the kind of charm I feel and I want to keep listening to it. However, when it comes to playing and enjoying it, I feel a lack of variation in the elements highlighted in the taiko fumen (note chart for game). Additionally, there could be a bit more variation in the overall development. Without these, the playing experience could feel monotonous after a long time. In a band session, it might work, but as a game, it could lead to boredom. Don't be discouraged by this, and please take on the challenge again! We'll be waiting !!

It's a song composed of electronic sounds, yet it carries a sense of emotion that resonates deeply. I found it quite captivating. The intricate rhythm variations and well-balanced development changes, especially up to the chorus, are very well done. However, that's where I believe this song falls short. The real drawback of this song, in my opinion, lies in what happens after the chorus, which is the "lack of build-up" issue. Of course, it's possible that the song was intentionally created in that manner (to maintain a consistent tension level, to make it an easy-to-listen-to track, etc.). However, this is a song created with the premise of being played in a game context.
Up until the chorus, it's quite structured, making you feel down with a bit of melancholy, but then don't you like, "I want to let loose!"...? Even a simple change in the pitch of the melody might have altered the impression. Of course, it's not just about that, but if you've made the listener wait (in a good way) until the chorus, then the chorus should really get them pumped up (in a more straightforward manner).
I hope you'll take on the challenge again next time! We'll be waiting!

The cleanliness of the rhythm work and melody lines in the song's outline is truly outstanding. While maintaining this clarity, if you can add some arrangements that enhance the overall composition, it might bring out a stronger narrative and make the song more memorable to a wider audience.

The song has a unique floating feeling with an ennui atmosphere and a solid rhythmic beat that feels very pleasant. The balance between tension and relaxation in the music is excellent. However, from a gameplay perspective, incorporating parts that allow for more freedom in playing might improve the balance between tension and relaxation in the performance aspect.

I think it's a track that has a game music vibe in a good way. The solidly shaped rhythm feels great, and there's plenty of rhythm variation, making it enjoyable to play as a music game. Compared to the speed of the first half of the song, the ending of the song gradually slows down, and I couldn't help but imagine the credits rolling in the middle of the song. So, having one more development towards the end might have made it even more enjoyable until the end.

The quality of the song is very high, and the straightforward phrases in the chorus are really good. Even in the vocal parts, there are cool elements that connect with the cool guitar in the second half of the song, which I think enhanced the overall appeal.

[Comments from the judges]
You can feel a cute, warm, and cozy atmosphere in this song. The way the sounds are scattered is precise, and the balance of the sounds is exquisite, so it seems like a lot of fun to create this fumen (note chart for game). However, as I progressed through the song while expecting the world depicted in the title, I found it difficult to imagine being on a train. Adding a more direct approach to evoke the feeling of being on a train, such as including a train whistle sound effect, might have emphasized the narrative and added more points to the evaluation.
